These Top 10 Technology Trends will shape the Near Future

A lot of new technologies face its breakthrough – but the strongest technology trends in 2018 will still be the ones we’ve already talked for a while. That says the experts we talked to.

As we know of artificial intelligence (AI), this is all about judging by its definitive breakthrough.

Already today, AI in healthcare is used for example to detect cancer, sales organizations to determine which transactions are worth investing in or the financial market to get the right shares to funds. The use in 2018 will be both broader and deeper.

“AI changes the way organizations find new business opportunities and how they communicate their processes, products and services,” said Whit Andrews, analyst at Gartner.

We have gone through the great analysis houses’ thoughts in 2018 and talked with experts.

Here are the 10 technology trends that will characterize the future:

1. Software that teaches – artificial intelligence.

Creating systems that can learn, adjust and even act on their own are something that IT providers will fight in the next few years. During the year, attention was drawn to how Google released a new powerful version of its AI Alphago that plays the Go game tactics.

This version has the add-on Zero and it’s because the program does not require any human knowledge from the beginning, it relies on a self-learning mechanism. It is programmed so that it learns from mistakes and adjusts its game so that it leads to victories.

This is an area where it will happen this year and the software will not only be intended for gaming – but for improving decision making and business models.

“AI technicians are developing fast and organizations will need to make significant investments in processes and tools to exploit these technologies,” said David Cearly, analyst at Gartner.

2. Block chain – much more than bitcoin.

The block chain is not just a cryptographic extension infrastructure anymore – without a platform for digital transformation.

The block chain technology was previously most interesting for the financial sector, but the potential uses are considerably broader – and now it is increasingly talked about letting this technology handle for example identification, and for solutions in, for example, healthcare, real estate, logistics, manufacturing with more.

During the year, several of the largest IT providers have begun offering this as a service.

3. The public cloud accelerates corporate innovation.

It is impossible to omit the emergence of clouds when talking about strong technical trends right now. The work of moving from the traditional IT environments to the cloud is in full swing, and no slowdown is in sight.

However, most companies have worked with strategists so far. Now it’s time to find the best ways to make use of the cloud.

4. Internet of things.

It has been talked about the internet of things in a few years and there is no reason to end it now. 2018 and the years to come will be an important year, with better networks, cheaper sensors and smarter business solutions.

A trend in the trend is that data collection and management is placed closer to the data sources, i.e the connected devices. This trend, of course, goes hand in hand with the great explosion of information and data – and how to handle them.

The one who manages to take advantage of this is a guaranteed winner in the future.

5. Digital employees (robots) take place in the offices.

It may soon be possible to welcome a new colleague into the offices. In the United States, we are talking about “cobots“, from “[collaborative] robots”.

Such robots are becoming more common , and even have popped up startups that work like a kind of crew – they hire collaborative robots per hour and are in charge of programming, development and maintenance.

6. Conversational platforms.

In terms of user interface, the next major change is that the computer, not the user, gets the task of interpreting intentions. This is done by means of conversations.

An application interprets a question or command from a user and responds with a result or requesting more input from the user.

7. Connected and self-propelled cars.

Completely self-propelled cars we will not see in the coming year, but gradually, the car becomes more of an IT product.

The major IT providers are pumping dollars into the automotive industryIntel made a huge effort in 2017 when they bought Israeli Mobileye who work with technology for self-propelled cars.

In short, all technology providers want to take part in this trip.

8. Intelligent apps and analysis.

Sub-area to megatrenden AI. In the coming years, almost all apps and services will contain any level of AI. Some of these apps will be obviously intelligent apps that could not exist without AI and machine learning.

Others will more discreetly use AI to provide them with intelligence in the background. Intelligent apps create a new intelligent inter-layer between people and systems, and have the potential to change the way we work and our workplaces.

9. IT security …

It is easy to forget about this basic need. But – and it’s not just a clever thing – the threat continues to flow to. So-called ransomware has become a billion industry. This, as everyone learned during the past year, is an extortion activity where the viruses encrypt files and require money to unlock them.

Don’t miss it: Top 10 security and IP cameras you shouldn’t miss this year

Wannacry, Petya and Bad Rabbit are examples of global attacks. This guarantees that IT security remains a strong technological trend.

10 … in real time.

Responding quickly to the ugly threats – it can save a lot of effort and dental assault.

Companies must continuously, in real time, conduct risk analyzes and assess how much they should rely on others. And you have to be able to act quickly, based on the analyzes that are made.

This means that developers, operating staff and security experts have to work together. One example is that security must be tested continuously during the development and operation of applications.

Remote controlled airport: This German airport doesn’t need its own air traffic controllers!

The airport in Saarbrücken will no longer have any air traffic controllers on site in the future. Instead, there is a center in the more than 500 kilometers away in Leipzig, from which the so-called remote tower control is exercised.

Various sensors ensure that the pilots also have all the information needed for their work in Saxony. However, tests have shown that a mere flood of data is not enough. Rather, the pilots themselves must be able to get an idea of the situation on the spot – which is why they have so far sat high up in the tower of the airport.

In the case of the Saarbrücken airport, high-resolution cameras are now being used. From the recordings, a 3D image is then made, which allows a panoramic view and zooming in.

The staff can be used more flexibly

The German air traffic control hopes for the concept cost savings. Because so far it is the case that even at smaller airports all positions in the tower must be occupied. But because there are fewer take-offs and landings than at major airports, these are comparatively high costs.

By contrast, the new concept allows staff to be concentrated in one location and used more flexibly. In the long term, this could relieve smaller regional airports on the cost side. A not unimportant point. Because currently almost all small airports in Germany generate losses.

The German air traffic control therefore wants to gain further airports in the future for their concept of the remote-controlled airport. Currently, a changeover is also planned for the airports in Dresden and Erfurt.

For the pilots, the process remains the same

However, the approach is not completely new. In Sweden, the airport in Ornskoldsvik has been serviced for about three years by air traffic controllers in Sundsvall, 150 kilometers away.

The experiences made there show that the approach works without problems and does not jeopardize the safety of passengers. From the pilot’s point of view, it also does not matter where the air traffic controllers are: their landing routine does not change.

The size of the aircraft is not important. The remote tower control works for small carriers as well as jumbo jets. It is quite possible, therefore, that in the future, airports will be planned and built entirely without the characteristic tower.

Four different uses of the mobile that you probably did not know

These accessories and applications trigger the possibilities of telephones

Talking on phone? Mobile phones have long since ceased to be ‘telephones’ and today they are closer to being multi-threaded platforms with which we can do practically everything.

Beyond the calls, which for the youngest are already a marginal function, the mobiles are used to update and visit social networks, browse web pages, of course as a photo camera and listen to our favorite music.

These applications are already well known by the majority of users, but nevertheless the possibilities are many and it is possible that not everyone knows the full potential of these devices. We will detail some possibilities offered by these equipment that are already our second skin:

Open doors

Can the key of a door be replaced by the mobile? It is possible that in private homes we are still far from a massive use of this useful application; However, for a hotel, this change can be fundamental and involve considerable cost savings.

TESLA UNVEILS A PORTABLE BATTERY POWERBANK FOR MOBILE DEVICES

The well-known Hilton hotel chain has just introduced its Digital Key in our country: the Hilton Diagonal Mar in Barcelona will allow its guests to open their rooms from their mobile phones and without needing any physical support.
This key is downloaded in the form of an application on the mobile phone and is activated at the time of registering the entry at reception, and the customer can use it not only for access to the room, but to multiple common areas of the establishment (gym, elevators … ).
The application that serves as a key will allow guests to check out without having to go through reception and choose the room based on their preferences at the time of booking.

Monitor the entrance door

Another product that has just landed in Spain is Ring, a smart doorbell that replaces the conventional one that we have at the door of the house and provides many more functions that can be managed from the mobile.

This product incorporates a camera and motion sensor, so that, being connected to the WiFi of the house, every time someone calls, we can see on the screen who it is.

The application also allows to communicate by voice with whoever is calling, something that may be interesting if we are waiting for a package or shipment. The device, on the other hand, elevates the security of the house by recording all the movements that take place in the main door (even in the dark).

Withdraw money from ATM

As we explained in another article, another function that not everyone knows is that with the mobile and being a client of the main banks, you can withdraw money from the ATM without having to carry the card.

Each entity has its own application and the operation is usually similar in all situations: a security code is sent by message to the mobile (or to the specific application) that is validated in the ATM and the amount is withdrawn.

It is a slower procedure than the withdrawal of cash through the card but allows us to have money without having to carry the portfolio on top.

Turn on lights and remote heating

It is, possibly, one of the first applications of home automation in homes: being able to turn on the lights or remote heating and from the mobile is really useful in certain situations.

EVERYTHING ABOUT BLUETOOTH 5.0, WHAT MOBILE PHONES HAVE IT AND WHAT IT IS FOR

There are several manufacturers of light bulbs connected as Philips Hue, or even IKEA has launched its own range. With regard to heating, thermostats such as Nest, Netatmo or Tado, allow to control the home temperature at a distance and without major headaches; The manufacturers of these products have studies that demonstrate significant energy savings using this type of device.

Why can it be interesting to automate the lighting of the light? First, for a security issue to give the feeling of presence although there is nobody, and second, pure comfort: you can set rules by which the lights are turned on alone as soon as we approach the address or vice versa, turn off when leaving.

Facebook begins to notify users, as of Monday, April 9, what applications they use and to what information they have allowed access , and can know it through a link that will appear at the top of the page, as explained by the Facebook Technology Director, Mike Schroepfer.

Thus, users have the possibility to decide whether or not to eliminate some applications, and they are also informed that they have seen their information compromised in the Cambridge Analytica case. This measure is part of a broader package announced by the company to exercise greater control over the data that applications can access.

These modifications come after the scandal of the British consultant Cambridge Analytica, by which the data of 87 million users of the social network would have been “inadequately shared” with Cambridge Analytica, according to the company’s estimates.

In the Spanish state, the calculations of the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg, put the number of people who installed the app ‘Thisisyourdigitallife’ in 44 and up to a total of 136,985 people may have been affected by data leakage.

The founder and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg , will appear on Tuesday and Wednesday in various US Congress committees that have claimed his presence. Previously he met on Monday with a group of deputies.

Exynos 8895 vs Snapdragon 835 Comparison: Which processor is better?

Mobile processors continue to evolve and more and more options are available to manufacturers. Although Qualcomm distributes to a wide range of manufacturers, some like Samsung or Huawei, as well as Apple, are still betting on their own hardware.

And in these terms, the most recent are the Snapdragon 835 – by Qualcomm and the Exynos 8895 – by Samsung, with a similar design although there are certain differences in their features.

What differences are there between the Snapdragon 835 and the Exynos 8895?

Snapdragon 835 vs Exynos 8895 direct comparison

10nm manufacturing process

The truth is that both processors have an equal manufacturing process and, in broad terms, have similar components and speeds. This manufacturing process is that of 10nm, called as the new generation, leaving behind both the 14nm and 16nm (what they use, for example, the iPhone 7).

This manufacturing model was created by Samsung already in 2016, but had not been used in one of its devices so far. It is, without a doubt, a new step in terms of processors, since it allows more transistors to be integrated in the same space.

That is, more power is generated and energy consumption is improved. In fact, Samsung has launched a series of data in this regard: this new technology allows to integrate 30% more transistors in a physical area of a 14nm chip; and offers up to 27% more power.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 + have in their interior with this new Exynos 8895, and that other devices such as the LG G6 mount the option of Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835. But, being that way or in another way, which option is better? We compare them, with the details that are available to date, so you can value yourself.

Performance: CPU and GPU

Snapdragon 835 vs Samsung Exynos 8895 3D performance comparison benchmark

With respect to the previous, the Snapdragon 835 offers a performance 20% higher than what already reached the Snapdragon 821. For its part, the Exynos 8895 introduces a ‘power 27% higher than the Exynos 8890 of the previous generation.

And this has been achieved thanks to FinFET (fin field-effect transistor) technology, with a manufacturing process of 10 Nm that both share, both the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895. And another aspect they share are the eight cores in a set that, according to the technical sheet, it should suppose a 40% lower energy consumption for both one and the other.

And in the field of graphic processing, the two also share the support for virtual reality in 4K resolution. The Snapdragon 835 processor comes with the Adreno 540 GPU that should improve its work on 3D rendering over the Snapdragon 821 by 20%. And the Exynos 8895 has a Mali-G71 GPU and a 20-core configuration.

Multimedia: playback and recording

Samsung Exynos 8895 processor the high performance processor ever

Here if there are major differences, and are what will make us see very differentiated hardware in the next high-end smartphones.

Because the Exynos 8895 supports dual main camera configurations with 28 and 16 MP sensors while the Qualcomm option is limited to two 16 MP sensors.

Therefore, although the resolution is not everything, the capabilities of the SoC Exynos 8895 are much broader. In addition to this, the Exynos 8895 is capable of recording video in 4K at 120 fps maximum.

But in the reproduction of multimedia the similarities return, because both support 4K video at up to 60 fps. As for the recording, the differences are substantial because the Snapdragon 835 is limited to the 4K resolution at 30 fps.

And all this above, in addition, combined with an LTE connectivity module that supports a maximum transfer speed of 1 Gbps / 150 Mbps in download and upload, respectively. What is missing, of course, is that there is infrastructure and services that take advantage of these benefits.

Results

After analyzing both processors and checking their results. These results have indicated that the Exynos 8895 processor offers better results in terms of data processing, both in a single core and in multiple cores. Although at the time of graphic processing, the Snapdragon 835 is slightly higher.

Qualcomm 835 processor the best gaming and graphic processor

As for the charge, Samsung has chosen to incorporate the Quick Charge 2.0 into any Galaxy S8 processor, so both processors present very similar results. Even so, the performance observed is that the Snapdragon 835 is somewhat superior to the Exynos 8895 , especially when working with multiple cores.

In the same way, there is a small difference if we compare the power of the Snapdragon 835 with the power of the Exynos 8895. The first one a much higher maximum speed, which translates, in the end, in a higher performance and response.

While it is true that in a generic way these small differences should not cause very extreme experiences, it is quite remarkable that Qualcomm processors, in this case the Snapdragon 835, have better results. And you, in the fight of Snapdragon 835 vs 8895 with which one you stay?

Meet the New 146″ Samsung TV The Wall modular, with MicroLED technology

Samsung has thrown the house out the window with its first TV with MicroLED technology, the new Samsung The Wall in the CES2018 in Las Vegas.

The CES of Las Vegas is leaving us a lot of news regarding new devices, and Samsung has been very active in the last hours, with large appliances that have already received their voice assistant Bixby, which has reached new refrigerators and televisions.

Samsung The Wall launches MicroLED technology

Samsung until now had fought against the OLED technology of its competitors with their own proposals as the QLED, and now gives a new twist in the imaging technology of their televisions by launching the first television with MicroLED.

This technology, as its name suggests, has LEDs of a much smaller size than those we traditionally see in LED TVs, which allows us to generate a much more real and dynamic image.

This technology represents a great advance in the improvement of the image in televisions, since a microLED houses millions of microscopic LEDs , which are 100,000 times smaller than those of a human hair.

Samsung defines this television as the screen of the future, and it is no wonder if we consider its technology. Because MicroLED TVs offer a much brighter and brighter image quality than traditional technologies, and can maintain saturation independently of brightness adjustment.

The 146 inches New samsung modular TV - The wall

As each MicroLED can be turned on and off independently, black can be reproduced in a much deeper and true to reality than in other technologies. Another important aspect is that MicroLED televisions have a longer lifespan, since it is an inorganic technology, compared to organic technologies that have a shorter life.

In addition, the energy consumption of these MicroLED TVs is lower than that of traditional LED televisions, since the MicroLEDs can be turned on and off independently. This Samsung The Wall modular TV has been designed so that you can add or remove portions of the screen, without losing any of its image quality, being able to adopt an area of up to 146“.

It is clear that this TV is currently aimed at an exclusive and premium audience, who will be able to adapt the size of The Wall to the room where they will install it, being able to increase it or reduce it in the future to adapt to other places.

Jonghee Han, president of the Visual Display Business of Samsung Electronics. “The world’s first MicroLED modular consumer television, ‘The Wall‘, represents another breakthrough. It can adapt to any size and offers a brightness, a range of colors, a volume of color and black levels that are truly incredible. We are excited about this breakthrough in our roadmap towards the future of televisions, and also with the extraordinary viewing experience it offers consumers.”

It is undoubtedly the first example of a MicroLED technology that we will soon see in new television ranges, and that it could be the great successor of QLED and the biggest opponent of OLED panels.

No doubt this first example of MicroLED technology could not be more spectacular, more details of its global launch will be announced next spring.

Huawei New Face ID Tech is 10x better than Apple’s Face ID

The Chinese manufacturer has lifted the veil on its new smartphone Honor V10, but also on its own facial recognition technology, “inspired” by the FaceID of Apple.

A few weeks after the announcement of the iPhone X and FaceID function, Huawei also takes action by unveiling its own facial recognition system. Many have already made fun on the Internet, but the Chinese manufacturer wants to prove that it knows (better) what to do?

In this case, where Apple uses approximately 30,000 points to materialize the face, Huawei ensures that it can exploit up to 300,000 points. Better: it evokes a unlocking speed of 400 milliseconds, a release almost instantaneous.

Note that the components used by Apple and Huawei are substantially the same. And opportunities also: it will be also possible for example to validate a payment with facial recognition.

It’s quite amusing to see that Huawei generally “copies” the features of an apple’s branded devices, always trying to do better. This had been the case, for example, with the Force Touch technology. But it is not with the version of Animojis that presented Huawei, which for once is a vulgar copy of what presented Apple.

Anyway, Huawei has made beautiful announcements but for the moment we still do not know in which device (s) these novelties will be usable. No availability date has been mentioned yet.

Intel will market its 5G modems in 2019

The founder is positioning on the 5G with a first series that will be marketed in 2019. Moreover, he could work with Apple, the latter being in open conflict with his partner Qualcomm.

5G could reshuffle the cards in the supplier market. First, Intel unveiled the XMM 8000 series, its first family of 5G NR modems (New Radio) that works in both the 6 GHz (3.3-4.2 GHz) and the 28 GHz millimeter wave bands.

RFIC (Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits) from 3GPP. The first modem marketed will be the XMM 8060, soberly called 5G Modem. It had already been unveiled last January at the CES in Las Vegas under the code name “Goldbridge” . Massive deployments are expected by 2020.

Intel is positioned as a leading player on 5G modems. And even if its rival Qualcomm also has its 5G modem, called X50, the founder of Santa Clara would be in very close relationship with Apple to potentially provide such modems for its future devices. The manufacturer of the iPhone and other iBidules is also in open conflict with Qualcomm regarding patents.

4G-LTE modem

At the same time, Intel also unveiled the XMM 7660 Family, a 4G-LTE Category 19 (Cat-19) modem capable of supporting theoretical data rates up to 1.6 Gbps. It too will be marketed in 2019, and will provide a kind of transition to the whole 5G.

Tesla unveils a portable battery powerbank for mobile devices

The automaker has discreetly put online in its shop a portable battery “Powerbank” of 3350 mAh.

Unfortunately, it is already exhausted! The Tesla Powerbank portable battery has already found many takers, who bought it for $ 45. The manufacturer has not done much publicity. If it recently unveiled its novelties, an electric truck and a new Roadster, it did not even mention the existence of the battery.

Convenient, it incorporates Apple’s USB, microUSB and Lightning connections. Thus, it is possible to recharge the vast majority of mobile devices on the market, iOS or Android.

The battery itself is composed of a single 18650 cell of 3350 mAh. Of course there are alternatives but Tesla is also the design and we must admit that it is rather successful.

Remember that in 2015, Tesla had already unveiled a range of batteries for the home, including PowerWall.
